I wonder if we'll ever fully realize the significance of the cross this side of heaven, but I love seeing the understanding growing in my boys.

Blessed Easter to you all,

The kids and I just watched the trial and crucifixion scenes from "Jesus of Nazareth." It really impacted all of us. I stopped the video after He was taken down from the cross and reminded the kids, okay, this is as far as the story goes today...as His followers, you don't know what will happen Sunday morning. They were very sobered at that realization.

Oh, how devastatingly sad it is to our sensibilities to consider the sufferings of Christ on our behalf. Someday, though, he will be old enough to understand the full significance of the work of Christ on the cross. Then he will understand why it is referred to as 'Good Friday':

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
