The confusion created about the subject of “Thy.” Obama is being held up as a saviour, by many. Even many Christians. I read the Boundless Line blog of Focus on the Family. They did a post this past week in which one of their editors pointed out that Obama carries a hindu god (a monkey) as a goodluck charm, and how he thought it was disturbing. He was called name after name, and had to do a post asking people to comment with civility–or not at all. Wow.
I see nothing wrong with expressing happiness over Obama becoming President. I voted for him. I’m happy he won. Perhaps this person just needs some grammatical help.
Seems to me this sign should read to Obama be the glory, great things he has done according to the depraved world. I don’t get why so many Christians are singing Obama praises. So messed up. But that is what happens when you trade in Truth for “relevance”. This world is sad.
The most disturbing thing about those who shower such lavish adoration on Mr. Obama is their tendency to attribute divine qualities to him. He has been called “savior” and “messiah”. Certainly you agree that Barack Obama is neither.
As for the sign, the words “thy kingdom come, thy will be done” are found in Matthew 6:10 within the context of the Lord’s prayer. Ascribing this statement to a man is blasphemous. It is reserved for God alone.
Now you know what’s wrong with the sign, grammar aside.
It really is scary. No matter who you voted for this is who we have as a president, and no mere mortal could possibly live up to the standard set. I suspect the backlash is going to be harsh, cruel, and just as unrealistic as the current expectations.
This isn’t Obama’s Kingdom. I was worried that people would start thinking of Obama as their saviour, that they place their faith in him, a man, and not in the God that created this man.
Isn’t it interesting..this is just exactly how cults get started. Man exalting man….not GOD! Waco, Jonestown, Applegate and on and on and on….all of them looked to a mere man as their Messiah leader! Israel is a great example of this failure to…when looking to man as their leader and guide in a “MESSIAH” way. Israel had the ultimate of all to lead them but they begged to have a king/leader like other nations…God allowed them their wish..FREE WILL you say…but it’s not really FREE because we pay in the end when we create these non eternal attachments to things and to people that cannot perform as “MESSIAH”, …they are only mere men..just a vapor as we all are! BUt God does say that he appoints kings…so we hold on to see what GOD…the GOD of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob has planned! Our window is always going to be to watch Israel…. God made a promise along time ago to Abraham…”those who bless you I will bless and those who curse you I will curse” ….Pray on Obama’s watch that he has favor over Israel or we will all suffer the fall out!
All leaders are appointed by God (good or bad). Lets pray for him and the responsibility he carries, as we continue to show respect for our leaders. God is the judge of all men.
Scary! The first line is great! Then the sign-writer got a little confused.
Yes, we need to support and pray for our President, but, he is not, nor ever will be God or our Savior or Messiah. No MAN (or woman) should ever called any of those names or take the place of our ONLY God and Savior Jesus Christ!
That is so wrong. Im from India and even there, people are celebrating just because Obama is the prez now… its so sad. With the Hollywood attraction that people crave, they see Obama as this suave, stylish, charismatic person and are so bowled over by how he looks and talks that they dont HEAR what he says. He doesnt mind sending tons of money to murder babies….but he talks about “doing whats right”???? hello!!!!
i watched the Inauguration and it just felt so wrong… He looks so ill fitted to be in the White House. We need to pray that Christians here in the US will be safe under his term….you dont know what could happen. I was so shocked when i found that Rick Warren said that “even”he listens to Melissa Ethridge.. what on earth does that MEAN?!?!! is he or isnt he supporting the gays? then he goes and gets replaced by a gay bishop. HUH!??! i dont understand this!
thanks for putting up this pic and asking that question.
Oh, give me a break. Its a sign, that’s it! Like this post people are free to express themselves in any form. Our world is in a terrible place right now. How do we know God did not already have Obama in his big plan to help us be a better place? His way of bringing people of all kinds together! I am feeling like a better person already, more hopeful for our future!!

That big word in the middle.

I don’t even know where to begin.
Oh good grief!
Especially after the first day all that he has undone for the unborn… good grief! Who in their right mind would say that??
So much…so, so much!

To God be the glory…

Oh, where to even start.

bleck. I’m with Melissa. The big word in the middle. My goodness….
“To God be the glory great things HE has done….so loved He the world that He gave us His Son!”
…..is the way I remember it. But then again….I’m not a fan of change.
So, so very much … SO very much.

I agree completely with you, jules!!
Namely that Obama’s name is huge and God’s name is small. I think that sums it up.

So very much is wrong with that sign.
So sad.
God put Mr. Obama in the White House. I pray it is not discipline on the US>
Sad and Scary.
Oh man….I just don’t know about all this hero worship with this MAN (hence, not a God).

Everything.
I don’t even know where to start.
The worship of this man scares me. The “thy will be done” terrifies me… we want the will of a man who supports abortion to be done???
Pray. Pray. Pray. For we know that God can use even the ungodly to carry out His plans.
creepy, maybe the Obama should be last?

To quote you, “Oh, give me a break.”

Kelly,
Perhaps it’s “just a sign”. And perhaps Obama is the Antichrist. It’s all faith & perspective and whether you choose to place each in God or man.
It’s a sign to remind us to get on our knees and pray for our country and it’s leaders.
We are called to do so by the God we serve.
Take care,
Amy
It’s an obamination, DUH!
