Jules’ Diner – Barb Tighe’s Chocolate Frosting

by Everyday Mommy on April 11, 2009

julesdinerWhen I was a kid we lived down the street from the Tighe family. My mom was good friends with Barb Tighe and some time during the course of their friendship my mother stole Barb Tighe’s recipe for chocolate frosting. I think I just outed my mother. You can be thankful that my mom was a thief because I’m going to share Barb Tighe’s chocolate frosting recipe with you

BARB TIGHE’S CHOCOLATE FROSTING

2 squares unsweetened baking chocolate
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup water
3 tbsp butter
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups Powdered sugar

Melt the chocolate, brown sugar and water and bring just to a boil (don’t walk away from it) and remove from heat. Add butter and vanilla, stirring till melted. Add powdered sugar gradually to spreading consistency and mix on low with electric mixer. Be sure to add powdered sugar gradually as frosting can go from spreadable to concrete in a flash.

Give your husband and your kids the beaters. You get to lick the pan.

I was going to applaud your truth in advertising, then I realized that I was just reading too fast. At first glance I read, “Big Thigh Chocolate…”

Happy Easter! He is risen!

Yum yummy! But if I make it, then I’ll eat it. It’s safer if I just leave it here on your blog and just dream.
