I’ve been trying to reduce the number of trips I make to the grocery store by using up whatever I may find in the freezer. This can be a bit dicey when it comes to meal time. I’m trying to cultivate my use of the word “mysterious” when it comes to dining. This morning’s expedition into the freezer scored some skinless, boneless chicken breasts. What to do, what to do.
“Okay…trying to empty the freezer,” I tweeted. “Who has a good recipe for chicken + Crockpot? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?”
Veronica (and bevy of others) tweeted to the rescue with a recipe called Anne’s Chicken. I realize that some of you are even now salivating. And, with good reason. Anne’s Chicken will not be found on the pages of Saveur, it’s more of a Taste of Home recipe. And, throughout the day, via phone calls and emails I learned a number of variations of Anne’s Chicken.
“Oh! Is that the one with the cream cheese in a Crockpot?” a friend exclaimed.
“Yes,” I replied. “Cream cheese and cream of chicken soup and…”
“Oh, Jules. Bacon. You must add bacon to the Crockpot,” she said.
The next call was similar.
“That’s the one with the cream cheese. We make that all the time in the Crockpot. You’re adding onion to it, right?”
Then an email…
“Be sure to add chopped green chilis to the Crockpot. You’ll love it.”
It’s now about dinner time so it’s anyone’s guess how Anne’s Chicken is going to turn out. I’ll keep you posted.
p.s. I’d really like to have the Crockpot pictured above, in case anyone from Sunbeam takes notice of my shameless promotion of your product. Oh, and Crockpot…there’s an app for that.

These are the best kind of recipes. Wonder who Anne was/is? Wouldn’t that make an interesting blog story? Anne, you out there?
LOL! I was wondering why you were saying Crockpot so much! I want the Crokpot with the locking lid for easy travel. I mean, come on, why didn’t I think of that?!
I want this recipe. Seriously.
On it’s way Kim!
My chicken is in the crockpot now!
