This is my first year to participate in Rebecca Writes annual November of Thanksgiving and I pray that you’ll consider joining in as well.

I had planned on writing about my cousin today (I’ll save that for Monday), but in light of yesterday’s events at Ft. Hood, TX I want to express my thankfulness for our military. I am a former Army wife, so I’m more than familiar with the day-to-day requirements and the strain which a military career places on a family. In war time, even more so.
I spent quite a lot of time on a handful of Army posts, from grocery shopping at the exchange to appointments at doctor’s office. Servicemen and women and their families should, if anywhere, feel safe on post. All that changed yesterday.
My heart goes out to the families of the fallen and wounded. Our prayers are with you today along with our deepest thanks for the sacrifice which all of you, including your families, make on our behalves.
My son slept peacefully last night because of you.

The event made me think of our time at Ft. Leonard Wood. The post becomes your home, everyone there your family. I join you in sorrow and prayer for those who have lost so much.
