About
My name is Jules, known around the blogosphere as Everyday Mommy. I am a Kansas girl, an everyday Christian woman, redeemed by grace in my youth. My education is in graphic design and I work from home as a freelance commercial artist. I have been a leader with Precept Ministries International since 1994 where I’ve learned to study and lead Bible studies using the inductive method. I have no formal education in theology. I am a Christian first, wife second, mother third and blogger last. Click here to learn more about what I believe.
I write about our everyday life, the mission field of motherhood, Christianity from a Reformed perspective, my foodie obsession, peri-menopause and a bit of politics. I’m somewhat of a lightning rod so don’t expect the typical gooey mommy blog.
The Everyday Family
I’m infinitely blessed to be married to a very talented man named Rich, who is a brilliant artist. Rich has been a cartoonist with Hallmark Cards for almost 25 years. Some of his work is featured here on EM. Rich is a devoted student of the Scriptures, a history buff and amateur antique hunter. He also does great impressions which keep me in stitches. He is a walking encyclopedia, especially when it comes to cartooning, comics and animation. He is a passionate reader and lifelong learner. He is the chief consumer of my cooking and the best story teller I know.
Johnny is our precious gift from the Lord. He is a second grader who loves all things dinosaur and making music of all kinds from son up till son down. He is a camping expert (his words) and he loves our camping trips. He’s an explorer and thinks machines of most any kind are cool. As you can see, he is gorgeous and I say that without bias.
Everyday Design
Everyday Design is my home-based freelance design business.
I have worked as a freelance commercial artist for over 25 years. My clients have ranged from small businesses to the Kansas Army National Guard. I’ve designed for contractors, mortgage companies, sales representatives, incentive marketing firms, photographers, churches and restaurants just to name a few.
Favorite artists include Golden Age illustrators from the Brandywine school such as Howard Pyle, J.C. Leyendecker and N.C. Wyeth. I also love the styles of contemporary painters Jesse Barnes and G. Harvey.
FAQs
What blogging platforms do you work with? I Blogger, Typepad Pro and Wordpress. Visit my Order Pad for pricing and details.
Do you design artwork for print? Yes, I do. My freelance career was built on designing logos and corporate identities for small businesses. If you need business cards or other printed materials please contact me. I’ll supply a quote.
I’ve heard that you work on a Mac. If I have a PC will this be a problem? Not at all. Macs work seamlessly with any PC. I work exclusively on a Mac in the Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator and Photoshop. The high performance, state-of-the-art quality of Apple computers along with the industry standard for high-end graphic design software means your design will be the best.
