Breast Growth

Beginning at approximately the sixth to eighth week of pregnancy, women will start to notice that their breasts are growing. This grow will continue throughout the remainder of your pregnancy. Many women increase by a cup size, but going up a few cup sizes is also possible. As the breasts continue to grow, you might notice that the skin of your breasts it itchy. It is also possible for stretch marks to occur on the breasts since they are getting larger in a short period of time.

Leaky Breasts

Breast leaking is one of the breast changes during pregnancy that many women prefer not to talk about, but starting around month three of pregnancy, some leaking is a common occurrence. This is because your breasts are starting to make a special milk called colostrum that your baby needs when he or she starts nursing. If your breasts are leaking this, it has a yellowish color and it is thick. Some women never experience this and some notice that they start to leak earlier in their pregnancy.

Bumps Around the Areola

In most cases, the areolas are smooth, but when you are pregnant, it is possible for tiny bumps to pop up around this area of your breasts. These bumps are called Montgomery’s tubercles and they are a kind of oil-producing gland. As you go throughout your pregnancy, these tubercles, which were not noticeable before, might start to become pronounced. The purpose is to ensure that your breasts are ready for breastfeeding after you give birth to your baby.
